Deepika Padukone has been at the peak of her acting career at the moment and has achieved a lot of success in the industry. Another milestone in this career has been her newly signed movie with Saaho star Prabhas. It was three days ago that Deepika announced how thrilled she is to be on board and how she cannot wait for the incredible journey ahead. Now, it is being reported that the actress has charged a massive sum for the film, making her the highest-paid actress in the history of Indian cinema.

Apparently it was not easy getting her on board the project, but the makers persisted and were adamant upon getting Deepika as the lead actress of the movie being produced by Priyanka Dutta. A report in Bollywood Hungama states that Deepika charged a whopping sum of Rs 20 crore for the film!  A source informed the portal, “Apparently Deepika these days, asks for a remuneration on a par with what the leading man of a film gets. She rightly feels she has earned herself a place of gender equality in her profession.”

The report also states that though Deepika’s fees isn’t on par with Prabhas, who’s apparently being paid nearly Rs. 50 crores, but Rs. 20 crores will make her the highest-paid actress in the history of Indian cinema.
